It is hard to believe that it has been five years since Clay Aiken performed on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. I remember how wonderful he sounded singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and how appreciative Jerry Lewis was for the $30,000 the fans raised for the telethon. Here is a video from that broadcast. I'm glad that Jerry is doing so much better now.

I am so proud to be a Clay Aiken fan, he is so talented, and he keeps raising the bar when it comes to showcasing his talents. He not only can sing, he can act, he can dance, and he is a terrific stand up comedian.
What a magnificent performance by Clay Aiken! Thanks for posting this video!

Yes, "What a kid".....who, now a man, still keeps marveling us.
That was an amazing performance and Jerry Lewis got it 100% right - Clay Aiken is a great "kid".
Glad Jerry's doing better!
Deona,
Thank you for this special moment in Clay Aiken's career. Not only did I enjoy hearing Clay sing BOTW, but I also loved the assessment of "the real winner" by Jerry Lewis, who invoked similarities wih Frank Sinatra.

Oh my gosh ! Clay Aiken on the telethon . I remember that . What a great memory . Thanks for the video .
Thanks for posting this video.
I remember Clay Aiken singing that day. Clay seemed rather hesitant =, but when he sang, it was fabulous. If I recall, Clay said he was so tired he hardly knew what he was doing!!
Clay Aiken really is a great kid!
Thanks for posting Deona - I love the clip!
That was such a wonderful performance at the end of a grueling AI Tour which was after a grueling couple of months doing promotions which was after grueling months of work on AI2. That performance and the way Jerry Lewis spoke to him and about him gave us all chills....and Darn! He's sexy.
I love that video! Clay Aiken is at his best when he's involved in charity work.
Clay was so darling on the Jerry Lewis Telethon. What fun it is to see it again.
Thank you for posting that.
I was just watching the telethon last night. Jerry and Clay are both wonderful humanitarians.
Lives are better for them.
Thanks for the trip down Clay Aiken's memory lane. And glad to hear that Jerry Lewis is doing much better. I saw him in an interview last week.
Awwwww, I just saw part of the telethon today. Jerry looks fabulous now as he was in such ill health when Clay appeared on the show.
Clay delivered a great performance even after a hectic travel/concert schedule.

I loved that appearance of Clay Aiken with Jerry 5 years ago. We knew then, he would be a big STAR!!
I remember this Clay Aiken performance very well. He was fabulous and Jerry was very impressed. He helped raise a lot of money for the cause.
I also remember that Clay Aiken performance very well. It was a great performance for a wonderful cause.
Thanks for a great walk down memory lane.
I miss seeing Clay Aiken on TV. I caught AYSTAFG on Friday night. What fun.
WOW, I had forgotten how wonderful that performance was. I miss that wonderful innocence of the early Clay Aiken fandom.
I hope that someone will prepare a virtual scrapbook for little Parker Foster Aiken so that one day he can know how magical his Daddy was in the early days.
aawwww, thanks for the memory. It seems like a life time ago Clay Aiken was on Jerry's telethon. I remember the boards discussing how tired he must be. He's grown up before our eyes, can't wait to see where the next 5 years take us.
Thanks so much for this video, I had not seen Clay Aiken on MDA telethon before, this was such a treat!
Clay Aiken - a great kid, a fantastic man, a first rate human being. What a treat to see this performance! Thank you so much!!
Clay Aiken has never received the praise he deserves. It's good to see at least someone gets it!
OMG, I'm so glad there was Clack of this! I hadn't seen it since the telethon itself, that clack never came my way before. Clay Aiken's performance was as good as I remembered. What a contrast between Jerry that year and this year - thank goodness he's so much better now!!
I have tears in my eyes. Had never seen that performance before. I am so proud of Clay Aiken. I think that Jerry Lewis is a Claydawg! He knows talent when he sees it.
I always loved that video. Jerry Lewis knew a good and talented man when he saw him. Great blog!
I remember seeing Clay Aiken on the Jerry Lewis Telethon like it was just yesterday. The only difference is that I admire Clay even more now than I did back then. Clay is such a wonderful humanitarian, so genuine, and so caring. A real class act.
I really loved this performance of Bridge Over Troubled Water, I think even more than I liked the AI2 finale version. No one can sing like Clay Aiken.
It's hard to decide which version of BOTW I like better, AI2 or the Telethon. Clay Aiken singing is just out of this world.
What a touching moment in the telethon. I'm so grateful that Clay Aiken was able to perform there and has gone on to do so much more for various causes especially for UNICEF.
I love the music you have of Clay Aiken in your share box Deona! Where can I find it - havent got the What World Needs is Love and I want it!!
Hi kim,
It was a real recording by AI sold as a charity single. There were two tracks of the same song. One with Clay Aiken, Kimberly Caldwell, Corey Clark, Julia Demato, Joshua Gracin, Kimberly Locke, Carmen Rasmusen, Rickey Smith, Ruben Studdard, and Trenyce -- the other (which is on my blog) with just Clay Aiken, Rickey Smith, and Ruben Studdard. I think the three guys sound amazing together.
You can get it here on amazon.com
I remember that performance, and how all the fans were waiting together for it while posting on the boards. Good times!
Sometimes I wish I had become a Clay Aiken fan just a year or earlier than I did!
Thank You Deona x
Five years have gone by and still Clay Aiken mesmerizes me every time I see or hear him. Jerry Lewis was so right about Clay. It's good to see Clay receive the credit he deserves.
Jerry Lewis who is a quality human being recognized that Clay Aiken was also a quality human being.

Was this really five years ago? Seems like yesterday Clay Aiken was on the telethon. What a proud moment that was.
He was so young and naieve back then. I'm rather saddened that he's had to learn some hard lessons along the way, but I'm proud of the fantastic man he's become.
